A message from our PresidentDear PRS Members & Community, This month, we continue our Advisory Board Spotlight by recognizing Charlie Gadeken for his service and welcoming him into this new role on our Advisory Board. Charlie is an artist known for creating monumental, immersive works that engage light, movement, and collective experience, often transforming public space at an ambitious scale. He is also the founder of The Box Shop in San Francisco’s Bayview–Hunters Point, a dynamic industrial arts workspace established in 2003 to support artists working at scale. Conceived as a place of collaboration and possibility, The Box Shop has grown into a vital creative hub and home to over 100 artists. It is also the site of numerous large-scale works, including projects destined for Burning Man and beyond. Charlie has been a valued member of the Pacific Rim Sculptors Board, generously hosting both a board meeting and a PRS event at The Box Shop, further strengthening the connection between our community and this remarkable space. Rooted in access, shared knowledge, and a spirit of making, his work reflects a deep commitment to creating environments where artists can experiment, build, and realize complex ideas that might otherwise remain out of reach. I am especially pleased to welcome Charlie to this new role. His insight, generosity, and bold vision will be invaluable as Pacific Rim Sculptors continues to grow and evolve. We are honored to have his guidance as we build this exciting new chapter through our Advisory Board. Once again, we are grateful for the leadership, generosity, and vision of our Advisory Board members, Anita Wiglesworth and Charlie Gadeken, as we continue to shape the future of Pacific Rim Sculptors together. The exhibition highlights a selection of artists recognized for their distinct approaches and contributions within a broader international context. Beach’s work from the Folded and Layered series explores material transformation through reclaimed plywood and cardboard, emphasizing structure, tension, and the expressive potential of repurposed materials. In the issue, she reflects on how her site-specific, permanent public works have evolved through deep engagement with the communities she has served as an Artist in Residence. Dave KwinterDave Kwinter’s assemblage sculpture Red Bow has been selected for auction at Nimbash 2026, the annual fundraiser supporting Nimbus Arts. This lively event brings together interactive art, live performance, food, and wine in celebration of creative community. Proceeds benefit arts education and programming in Napa Valley. Paul ReiberPaul Reiber's sculpture Father and Son is included in HOME, a juried exhibition exploring the evolving concept of home through themes of memory, identity, and belonging. Juried by Heather Hakimzadeh of Virginia MOCA, the exhibition brings together artists reflecting on both personal and collective experiences of home. Susan AmordeSusan Amorde’s new handmade paper installation, Transmission, is included in Brand 54: Annual National Exhibition of Works on Paper, a juried exhibition showcasing a wide range of contemporary paper-based practices. Centered on material transformation and narrative, Transmission takes the form of a handmade paper suitcase installation, engaging themes of movement, memory, and exchange. Joseph SluskyJoseph Slusky marks the 44th anniversary of Calliope, a sculptural installation commissioned by the City of Berkeley and originally installed and dedicated in 1982. Situated at the Berkeley Marina Plaza, Calliope has remained a lasting presence in the public landscape for over four decades, engaging viewers through form, scale, and its relationship to the surrounding waterfront environment. Charlie MiligrimCharlie Milgrim presents Crude Futures, an exhibition reflecting on the enduring environmental and political impact of oil through process-driven, time-based works. Originally begun in the early 2000s, Milgrim created these pieces using used motor oil rolled across paper with a bowling ball, setting expansive “landscapes” into motion. Over time, the contaminants in the oil continue to spread unpredictably, making time an active collaborator in the work. The resulting stains echo the slow, persistent effects of oil spills and the lasting imprint of oil dependency on both environment and global conflict. Crude Futures offers a powerful meditation on material, time, and the ongoing consequences of resource extraction. Catherine DaleyCatherine Daley’s work will be featured in two upcoming exhibitions, each engaging shifting landscapes and thresholds of change through distinct environmental and regional lenses. First up, Catherine is featured in Ecotones: Water & Thresholds of Change, a juried exhibition exploring water as both subject and metaphor, from the edges of rivers and wetlands to moments of environmental and conceptual transition. Bringing together artists working across media, the exhibition reflects on water’s power, fragility, and its essential role in sustaining life amid ecological change. Ecotones is presented in partnership with the Women’s Caucus for Art, Colorado Chapter. Catherine Daley, "Where the Glacier Meets the Sea", 2025, Photograph on Artist Paper, 16" x 20" This summer, Catherine will be exhibiting in CALeidoscope: Evolving Reflections of California, a juried exhibition celebrating the diverse landscapes and cultural narratives of California. Her work, Broken Landscape, reflects the stark terrain of Death Valley through the fractured view of an abandoned cabin window. The piece references early California history, when settlers were drawn to the region’s beauty and promise, while also suggesting themes of memory, change, and fragmentation. Marguerite ElliotMarguerite Elliot presents Earth and Sky, a solo exhibition of large-scale outdoor installations exploring resilience, renewal, and the interconnectedness of nature and humanity. On view throughout the seven-acre gardens, the exhibition brings together twenty sculptural works that engage the landscape as both setting and collaborator. These pieces offer a celebration of the natural world while also calling attention to its increasing fragility. This exhibition also marks a meaningful homecoming for the artist, as the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley is located near the Virginia farm where she grew up. Barbara M. BerkBarbara M. Berk is included in 'Weaving Between the Lines: Tradition, Innovation, and Back,' a collaborative exhibition presented by the Golden Gate Weavers Guild and the Bay Area Basket Makers Guild. Featuring over thirty artists, the exhibition explores the evolving relationship between traditional fiber techniques and contemporary approaches. Berk’s work investigates the intersection of metal and fiber practices. Drawing from early experiences with sewing and later training in metalsmithing, she hand-weaves and creates bobbin lace using stainless steel and phosphor bronze wire. Her process transforms flat woven structures into dimensional forms through layering, looping, stitching, and welding. Exhibition Dates: April 8 - June 5, 2026

FROM THE INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE CENTER 2026 International Sculpture ConferenceThe International Sculpture Center (ISC) has announced that this year’s International Sculpture Conference will take place in Minnesota’s Twin Cities (Minneapolis–Saint Paul) from October 22–25, 2026. This biennial gathering brings together sculptors, curators, educators, and arts professionals for talks, panels, networking, and creative exchange.
