Leadership Spotlight: Susan Amorde This month, we continue our leadership spotlight by recognizing Susan Amorde for her service and celebrating the many ways she helps shape Pacific Rim Sculptors. Susan is a sculptor and installation artist whose work moves fluidly between sculpture, mixed media, and paper-based installations, often exploring memory, identity, human connection, and the layered narratives that shape our experience. Based in Southern California, her work has been exhibited widely in galleries, museums, and cultural spaces throughout California and beyond. Susan brings a remarkable breadth of experience to both her artistic practice and her leadership. She spent 23 years at the Getty Museum, where she contributed to one of the nation’s premier cultural institutions, and also worked with renowned artist Ed Ruscha, gaining firsthand insight into the creative and professional worlds of contemporary art. These experiences continue to inform her thoughtful approach to artists, exhibitions, and community building. Susan serves Pacific Rim Sculptors as Vice President, co-chairs our Exhibitions Committee, and is our Southern California representative, helping strengthen connections between artists across regions while expanding opportunities for exhibitions, programming, and engagement. Her leadership has been instrumental in broadening PRS’s presence in Southern California through upcoming exhibitions and partnerships while building stronger statewide relationships within the sculptural arts community. Susan brings generosity, insight, and a deep commitment to fostering opportunities for others. In addition to her leadership roles, she has contributed to the Art Legacy presentation and is currently creating a catalog of our previous exhibition, A Question of Balance, helping preserve and promote the accomplishments of our members. I am especially grateful for the creativity, care, and energy she brings to this work. Her vision continues to help shape a more connected, inclusive, and vibrant future for Pacific Rim Sculptors. With gratitude, Catherine Daley Board President Pacific Rim Sculptors
